Traffic movement is normal on the last day of the pre-announced third phase of the three-day program in Bhanga, Faridpur, to protest the rearrangement of parliamentary seats. However, the pressure of vehicles on the roads is less compared to other days. In addition, a large number of law enforcement members have been deployed to prevent violence. In addition, Deputy Commissioner Md. Kamrul Hasan Mollah has immediately sent a report to the Election Commission (EC).

According to the pre-announced program, today is the last day, Tuesday. On this day, the locals blocked the Dhaka-Barisal highway in Pukhuria and Hamirdi areas of Hamirdi union for some time, but they lifted it soon after. Apart from this, there was no blockade anywhere on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.

At around 8:30 am, the protesters blocked the highway by throwing electricity poles and tree trunks. Later, the blockade was lifted at around 9:30 am in their own agreement. However, anger prevails among the locals.

At that time, the locals announced that they would continue the movement with a new five-point demand. Highlighting the demands, including the demand for the restoration of the two unions, local resident Ibrahim Khan said, “The Algi chairman must be released unconditionally, the filed case must be withdrawn, the administration cannot harass us at night, and new cases cannot be filed. If these conditions are not met, the movement will continue.” He also mentioned that everyone will go to the program together from 11 am.

Meanwhile, a large number of law enforcement officers were seen in the bus stand area adjacent to the Bhanga roundabout of the Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga Expressway on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. Members of the army, BGB, RAB and police were stationed there.

On the other hand, after the violence, Dhaka Range DIG Rezaul Karim Mallick and Deputy Commissioner Md. Kamrul Hasan Mollah and other senior officials. After the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner said that a report was sent to the Election Commission at night to reconsider the two unions.

In the content of the report, he mentioned that the parliamentary boundaries of Faridpur-2 and Faridpur-4 were redrawn. In the list, 2 unions under Faridpur-4, Algi and Hamirdi parliamentary constituencies, were included in Faridpur-2. As a result of the publication of the list, on September 4, the general public of Bhanga Upazila including the two unions started protesting by blocking highways and railways demanding the cancellation of the seat allocation. As a result, the law and order situation gradually deteriorated. On Monday, the protesters vandalized and set fire to the Upazila Executive Officer’s office, Upazila Election Officer’s office, Bhanga Police Station, Highway Police Office and government vehicles. In addition, the protesters blocked roads and railways. In view of this, the general public has to face severe suffering due to disruption of communication with 21 districts of the southern region. The protesters have continued their programs in support of their demands.

He further mentioned that the people could not accept the re-determination of parliamentary seats. It is known that people from all walks of life in the said two constituencies are associated with this movement. In this context, if the issue of re-determination of parliamentary seats is not reconsidered, there is a danger of a major deterioration in the overall law and order situation. In addition, the Deputy Commissioner has requested the two unions to reconsider and take necessary measures.
