After various festivals, Mehjabeen’s second movie ‘Saba’ is going to be released in theaters. The movie has participated in several world-famous film festivals in the past one year.
The movie tells the story of a young woman from a middle-class family who takes care of her sick mother. Rokeya Prachi plays the role of the mother (Shirin) and Mehjabeen Chowdhury plays the role of the daughter (Saba).
The screenplay for the movie ‘Saba’ was written by director Maqsud Hossain and his wife Trilora Khan. The biggest piece of information is that Maqsud Hossain made the movie based on the life experiences of his wife Trilora Khan.
Director Maqsud Hossain said, “About twenty-five years ago, my wife Trilora Khan and her mother were victims of a terrible car accident in Dhaka. Since that accident, Trilora’s mother has been a wheelchair-bound paraplegic, completely dependent on Trilora and her father for daily care. After Trilora’s father’s death, I saw firsthand how difficult it was for Trilora to manage her mother, even with enough money, 24-hour nursing support and family by her side. From there, it came to my mind – what if we could tell the story of a young woman named Saba, who is fighting to keep her mother alive in the lower-middle class of Dhaka without any help, money or family? Our full-length film ‘Saba’ was created from that imagination.”
Mehazabin Chowdhury, Rokeya Prachi and Mostafa Monowar play three important roles in ‘Saba’.
Regarding the marketing of the film, the director said that ‘Saba’ has already been sold to Channel 4 in the UK, SBS in Australia and Alternative Days in Kazakhstan. And unless there is a major upheaval in the world, ‘Saba’ is going to be released in Bangladesh on September 26.
