A passenger of a private car was killed after hitting the back of a broken pickup truck carrying chickens on the expressway in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj. Four other passengers of the private car were injured in the incident. The accident occurred at around 5:45 am on Sunday in the Kuchiamora Bridge area of the upazila.
The deceased has been identified as Rabiul Islam (43). The injured are Rithika Akhter (25), Neha Akhter (26), Md. Rabbi (26) and Md. Rana (27). They live in Dhaka and are related to each other. Initially, nothing more is known.
According to the fire service and local sources, a few people went to Mawa from the capital on Saturday night in a private car. This morning, they were returning to Dhaka from Mawa via the expressway. A Dhaka-bound pickup truck carrying chickens was parked in the Kuchiamora Bridge area of the expressway. At around 5:45 am, the private car lost control and hit the back of the pickup. In this incident, the front part of the private car was twisted. Five passengers of the private car were injured. Later, members of the fire service arrived and rescued the injured.
Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defense Deputy Assistant Director Muhammad Shafiqul Islam told Prothom Alo, “Upon receiving the news, a team of us rescued the injured. They were taken to the Sirajdikhan Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Rabiul Islam dead. The other injured were sent to Dhaka.”
