Rashed Khan, General Secretary of the People’s Rights Council, has demanded the resignation of the interim government’s Home Affairs Advisor, Lieutenant General (retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He said, “You have no right to remain in your post. We demand your resignation. If you have any shame, apologize and resign.”

Rashed Khan said these things while visiting Nurul Haque, President of the People’s Rights Council and former VP of DUCSU, who is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Rashed Khan said, “Whether you are responsible or not, we think, Home Affairs Advisor, you are not able to control the law and order situation in Bangladesh in any way. So, after yesterday’s incident, you can no longer remain in this post.”

Rashed Khan said that the person wearing a red shirt that went viral on social media has nothing to do with the incident of beating Nurul Haque with a stick. He said, “Nurul Haque was attacked by some miscreants of the army. A person wearing a red shirt attacked Samrat, the central leader of the Students’ Rights Council.’
Rashed Khan also said, ‘The army was involved in the attack on us and the police also had a role. On whose orders did the army go to the field and make us bleed? The army chief must take action against them subject to an investigation.’

A clash broke out between leaders and activists of the Jatiya Party (JPA) and the Gana Odhikar Parishad in Kakrail, the capital, yesterday evening. The incident occurred when a procession of the Gana Odhikar Parishad passed in front of the JPA office. Later, several people, including Gana Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque, were injured in the baton charge of the law enforcement agencies.

The Gana Odhikar Parishad said that while they were taking out a procession yesterday evening, JPA leaders and activists attacked them. However, JPA said that the leaders and activists of the Gana Odhikar Parishad attacked the JPA leaders and activists after taking out a procession.
General Secretary of the Gana Odhikar Parishad, Rashed Khan, told Prothom Alo at around 10:30 pm yesterday that President Nurul Haque, leaders and activists including him were preparing for a press conference in front of the Gana Odhikar Parishad office at around 9:30 pm in protest against the JPA attack. At that time, members of the police and army attacked them. At that time, President Nurul Haque, more than a hundred leaders and activists including him were injured. Nurul Haque was seriously injured. Six people including him have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College.

In this incident, the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) said in a press release yesterday that the law enforcement forces were forced to use force to protect public safety. Five members of the army were injured in the incident, the ISPR said.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital has formed a high-level medical board for Nurul Haque’s treatment. Hospital Director Brigadier General Md. Asaduzzaman said that Nurul Haque has a head injury. His nose bone is broken. Due to which there was excessive bleeding yesterday. The bleeding has already stopped and he has regained consciousness. However, it is not possible to say that Nurul Haque is out of danger before 48 hours.
