The Board of Directors of BRAC Bank PLC has appointed Tarek Refat Ullah Khan as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the bank. The appointment is effective from Tuesday.
Tarek Refat Ullah Khan had been serving as the acting (current charge) MD and CEO since May 27 this year. Earlier, in recognition of his contribution to innovation, business growth and organizational transformation, he was promoted to the post of Additional Managing Director and Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking in April 2025.
In this regard, BRAC Bank Chairperson Mehriyar M. Hassan said, “Tarek Refat Ullah Khan is the ideal person for the post of Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank, who will lead the bank in its future growth. His vision, integrity and leadership will make the bank a more trusted, innovative and inclusive institution. This will have a positive impact on the lives of customers, the banking sector, society and the country.’

Tarek Refat Ullah Khan joined BRAC Bank in 2017 as Head of Credit Risk Management. Before joining BRAC Bank, he worked at Eastern Bank, AB Bank and IFIC Bank for more than three decades. During his career, he has proven his special skills in innovation in corporate and institutional banking, transaction banking and risk management. His long journey in banking career is a perfect combination of innovation, integrity and impact.
Tarek Refat Ullah Khan started his career at IFIC Bank. Later, he held important positions at AB Bank and Eastern Bank. At Eastern Bank, he received the CEO and Chairman’s Award in recognition of his outstanding performance while serving as Executive Vice President and Head of Relationships in the Corporate Banking Division.

Tarek Refat Ullah Khan has received advanced training in credit risk, loan structuring, corporate governance, leadership and international trade in India, Malaysia, Bahrain, Germany and Italy.
Tarek Refat Ullah Khan holds a BCom from Chittagong University, an MCom (Marketing) and an MBA from Dhaka University. He also holds a Credit Risk Assessment Certification from Omega Performance Corporation, UK. He has completed the prestigious Senior Executive Leadership Program from Cornell University, an Ivy League institution in the US.
